Your Wedding in the Woods
Your wedding is one of the most magical days of your life, a special celebration of love, commitment and a new stage of life.
Some people dream of a big white wedding in a castle, some people just want to declare their love in a small private way, and some want a festival of celebrations with a riot of colour, and thankfully we live in a time where anything goes!
So if you fancy something a little different, a wedding under the trees, surrounded by nature and the sounds of a babbling brook, then perhaps Underpine Woods is the place for you!
We are delighted that our new handcrafted pole barn made using our own timber, cut and milled within 5 miles of the woods, is now standing proud in the heart of the woodland and offers a perfect haven to relax and shelter from any unexpected weather, we have beautiful handcrafted benches and picnic tables to seat guests for ceremonys, feasts, bbqs and long conversations around the huge 1m fire bowl.

How many guests can we have at our wedding?
We suggest no more than 100 guests for weddings at Underpine woods, and most weddings tend to have a guest list of around 60 people including children. We do not charge per head.
Do you have seating and tables available?
We have picnic table with seating for 60 guests (10x 6 seater tables) for dinner and 8 benches and plenty of stumps for ceremony’s and extra seating around the fire or wherever you may like.
How long is hire?
Wedding hire includes exclusive use on the day of your wedding and a little time the day before and day after to set up and pack away. If you want to have longer wedding just ask!
What is included in the hire price?
Included in the hire price is exclusive use of the woodland on the day of your wedding, time to set up and pack down, exclusive use of our handcrafted barn, composting toilet, picnic benches, benches and stump seating, firebowl and firewood, lighting on the track in and out of the woods, and on the day co-ordination from Sara from Peony and Lace Weddings.
How much parking do you have available?
We currently have very limited parking for approximately 20 cars, we suggest to all couples to use a taxi or bus shuttle to bring guests in and out of the site. Taxis need to be booked in advance.
Do you have power at the woods?
We don’t have mains power, we use a small generator to power the lights down the track to the barn but no other power is available. We suggest that couples hire a generator or use battery powered items if needed.
Do you have lighting in the woods?
We currently have beautiful festoon lights that lead guests in and safely back out of the woods, that extend to the barn. Couples have used fairy lights, disco lights, candles and spot lights to light their weddings in the past
Do you provide drinks or drinking water?
We do not provide any drinks or drinking water, we suggest that couples either hire a bar for their weddings (please see our previous supplier list for suggestions) or you can provide a bar or ask guests bring your own!
Do you supply food or catering supplies?
We do not supply any food or catering supplies, but we have worked with several brilliant suppliers and have plans with more, some even cook on charcoal made here in the woods! Please see our supplier lists for ideas, but you may use any food or drinks suppliers (with relevant licences and certificates)
Can we have a fire for our wedding?
Yes! We have a beautiful 1m fire bowl which is big enough for lots of people to sit around, dance around and keep warm. We do not allow any fires on the forest floor and ask guests to be mindful of safety of themselves, the surroundings and especially children when the fire is being used.
Can we have fireworks?
Sadly we can’t allow fireworks as they may hit trees and be dangerous, however we have had a beautiful sparkler send off whuch is a great alternative!
Can we have a band or DJ?
There are lots of options for music, we’ve had people playing their own acoustic music, simple Bluetooth speakers and a playlist and even a 24 piece brass band! We ask couples to be mindful of noise into the evening and becayse we are an off grid site with no power, bands may need to hire a generator or play acoustically!
What are our options if there is bad weather?
We are fortunate that in our valley we are often more sheltered than surrounding areas, so are usually not affected by wind and the tree cover reduces the rain too. The handcrafted barn now provides plenty of space for shelter for eating, ceremonies and dancing for around 60-80 guests should the weather be really wet on the day.
Do we get exclusive use of the woods?
Yes! When you hire the space it is yours for the day, it is also fine to come the afternoon before and the morning after to set up and pack away too.
Do you supply any staff for the wedding?
Yes! The lovely Sara from Peony and Lace weddings will be available for on the day co-ordination for your wedding
Can we set up and pack down before and after the wedding?
Yes, we open the woods for you to set up the afternoon before and the morning after the wedding, please note anything left at the woods is done so at your own risk
Can we bring our dogs/pets?
Yes, we welcome furry friends, but please ask any owners to pick up any waste and keep dogs on a lead or under close supervision to minimise disturbance to our wildlife.
Are children welcome?
Yes! Very much so, kids always love playing and exploring the woods, our own children spend a lot of time there. Please ask parents and carers to closely supervise children as there is a river running through the woodland, (which is great for Pooh sticks!)
